Full Home Renovation · MUSE Design Awards Platinum Winner
As a frequent world traveler who finds five-star hotel rooms deeply comforting, the client wanted to experience that same level of refinement at home. LUXYSPACE drew on haute modern hospitality architecture as inspiration, envisioning a home with the superb surroundings and unforgettable details of the world's most exclusive hotels, but with the welcoming embrace of a private residence. The full-home renovation included moving walls to open up the floor plan, custom cabinetry, walnut paneling throughout, wallpaper, custom drapery and custom furniture and seating. The result is a home with clean minimalism and striking design that still supports a sense of tranquility and elevated wellbeing.
One of the client's favorite rooms is the dining room. The client enjoys hosting small, intimate gatherings, so LUXYSPACE incorporated her appreciation for natural elements and water features, both often showcased in luxury hotels.
A waterfall-inspired custom glass chandelier cascades more than nine feet down to the dining table below and became the focal point of the room. Mimicking a trickling waterfall, it is made of hand-blown glass links, each one unique in structure and design, giving the piece an organic, natural feeling.
Installing the piece took days of careful work, interlocking each individual hand-blown glass ring until all 1,268 pieces were secured.
Beneath the waterfall chandelier, a custom-designed dining table is paired with modern armchairs of the utmost comfort. Grasscloth wallpaper complements the recurring natural elements, while tall custom drapes add structure and texture, drawing the eye from floor to ceiling. The result is a space suited to both formal and casual entertaining. In the great room, a sleek, pebble-shaped river stone cocktail table references both nature and five-star refinement, and raw silk drapery helps the space feel balanced and unified, promoting rest and relaxation.
LUXYSPACE tempered the minimalist home with rich walnut-paneled walls and surfaces. The vertical and horizontal grains add depth and warmth, creating the welcoming liveliness the client longed for.
Modern Luxe Sanctuary: in the more intimate inner sanctum, LUXYSPACE transformed the primary bedroom into an elegant yet cozy retreat with leather-textured wallpaper and a spectacular custom-designed bed that connects the headboard to the ceiling. The challenge was a pitched roof with a clipped corner, so the design works with the existing structure to create a place of peace and relaxation. The result is a floating platform bed with a built-in custom upholstered headboard and a fully paneled ceiling.
Our team enjoyed the challenge of redesigning this home and transforming it to its fullest potential. The final result is a sophisticated space designed for the utmost comfort and relaxation, and one that earned a Platinum award at the 2019 MUSE Design Awards, along with additional Gold and Silver honors.
